Peter Behrens

Peter Behrens was a professor of architecture in Düsseldorf, Vienna and Berlin. His principle was that the architectural form of an individual object must derive from its purpose. He was one of the founders of functionalism, and he applied his idea in industrial as well as residential architecture.

In Zagreb, in 1928, he rebuilt the multi-storey building – the Feller-Stern House, at the corner of Jelačić Square and Jurišićeva Street.
