Museum of Hangovers in Zagreb
Forget about traditional museums with heavy historical facts and dusty artifacts for a moment. This is the Museum of Hangovers, the first of its kind in the world, founded right here in Zagreb.
Do you remember those mornings when you woke up with a splitting headache, a strange object in your pocket, and absolutely no clue how you got home? Well, this museum is a tribute to exactly those moments!
It was founded in 2019 by students Rino Duboković and Roberta Mikelić as a unique, interactive space dedicated to “drunk stories” and the phenomenon of the hangover.
What can you see inside?
- A Journey Through a “Wild Night”: The exhibition is designed as a path that follows a night out—leading from the club, through city streets and neighborhood parks, all the way to that chaotic awakening in a messy room.
- The Wall of Fame (and Shame): You’ll read authentic, anonymous stories from people all over the world that will have you laughing until you cry. Some woke up with a bicycle in their bathroom, while others found themselves using a traffic sign as a pillow.
- Interactive Challenges: You can try on the famous “drunk goggles” that simulate vision under the influence of alcohol. Try walking in a straight line or playing a game of beer pong—you’ll quickly see it’s not as easy as it looks!
- The Educational Corner: While the museum is fun and lighthearted, it sends an important message about responsible alcohol consumption and its consequences, delivered in a modern and non-intrusive way.
This isn’t just a museum about alcohol; it’s a museum about human stories, unpredictability, and youth. Regardless of whether you’ve ever actually been hungover, you are guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face.
Perhaps one of the stories will remind you of your own wildest night out—and if you’re brave enough, you can even leave your own story for future visitors!
