Zadar National Museum and exhibition space of the Zadar City Museum
The collection of the National Museum Zadar currently comprises approximately 100,000 items, representing an invaluable heritage capital that defines the identity of Zadar and the entire Zadar region.
The beginnings of museum activity in Zadar date back to 1832, when Il Museo Nazionale was founded as a general regional museum for Dalmatia at the time. From these roots, today’s National Museum Zadar was formally established in 1962 through the merger of four independent museum and gallery institutions, which now serve as the Museum’s departments: the Ethnological Department, the Natural History Department, the Museum of the City of Zadar, and the Art Gallery.
Please note: The exhibition space of the Museum of the City of Zadar at this location is currently closed to visitors!
